about

I wrote this track one early morning in March, when everything was quiet outside except for the birds. I wanted to make a sort of duet with the call of one of my dad's (and now one of my) favourite birds, the majestic Red Kite. If I'm driving, the sight of one of these beauties flying low over farmland makes me pull over in a layby and seek out a better view - I just love their shape. You don't often hear their haunting cries if you're just watching them in the day time, but I have (probably most bird devotees do) a 10 CD set of bird sounds from around Europe and North-West Africa. This is a lo-fi improvised piece, born of late nights and early mornings playing the harp to stay calm, and it's one of my favourite memories from 'lockdown'.
